Tulsa Men’s Tennis Starts Strong on Day One at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Tulsa men's tennis team took home two singles wins and a doubles victory on the first day of the Ivy Plus Invitational on Friday.
To kick off singles play at the invitational, both Boriss Kamdem and Tom Thelwall-Jones picked up wins against their opponents on Friday. Kamdem defeated Jimmy Wasserman of Princeton handily, 6-3, 6-3. Thelwall-Jones would also dispatch of Alan Sou of Yale, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles, the tandem of Kamdem and Thelwall-Jones fell to Harris Walker/Samuel Beren of Harvard to open the day, 8-5.
After falling to the consolation bracket, the duo rebounded and took down Keshav Vellodi/Jason Hildebrandt of Columbia/Penn in a tightly-contested match, 8-7(6). Kamdem and Thelwall-Jones join forces again on Sunday morning against Kaleb Dobbs and Sebastian Vile of Minnesota.
At the Oracle ITA Masters, Majed Kilani squared off with Andrew Ton (Navy), dropping an extremely close match, 7-6(0), 7-6(2), 6-4.
Action resumes for each of the four TU competitors at the Ivy Plus Invitational on Saturday morning, beginning at 8 a.m.
