Tulsa Earns Seven Top-Three Marks in Final Day of Racing at Head of the Oklahoma

The Tulsa rowers earned seven top-three marks in the final day of racing at the Head of the Oklahoma on Sunday morning on the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City.

"I am pretty pleased," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "We looked at it as a working weekend for the Tulsa rowers. It was great competition, great weather and we were able to get some good work done on the race course. The results show how their training is paying off, but now the challenge is to continue to put more work in as we move deeper into the season. As a coach I'm really happy with the start, we just have to do the work throughout the season and into the spring."

Helen Leigh, Veronique Ulrich, Daniela Fusco-House and Ellie Russell captured a first-place finish in the Open 4x race in a time of 15:16.90, while TU's 'C' boat, which featured Voirrey Taylor, Taylah Eder, Alessia Ruggiu and Elisa Vandersloot was second in a time of 15:30.74.

In the Open 4+, Lindsey Smith, Madeline Oleksiak, Paige Hallam, Elizabeth McCabe and Nicole Workman recorded a second-place mark with a time of 16:22.24, 10-seconds behind Kansas' boat. The Golden Hurricane's 'B' boat was 10-seconds back for a third-place mark.

Lucy Coleman raced her Open 1x to a third-place time of 17:53.78, while Bobbi Forster was in fourth place in a time of 18:23.27. Sarolta Papp, Elisa Vandersloot and Karen Undset finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.

In the Open 2-, Amy Pitzel and Sydney Pirkle turned in a third-place mark with a time of 17:09.41, and Leigh and Ulrich were eighth in a time of 17:46.50. TU raced three other Pairs for 15^th, 32^nd and 36^th place.
