Tulsa Finds Success on First Day of Silverado Invitational

NAPA, Calif. – Four members of the University of Tulsa men's tennis squad were in action on Friday at the Silverado Invitational, with Jarod Hing and Boriss Kamdem both picking up a singles and doubles victory on Friday.
 
Hing and newcomer Daniel Siddall would defeat Pepperdine's Pawel Jankowiak and Enrique Lupue Rico in doubles, 8-2. Hing would later pick up a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set win over Hawaii's Blaz Seric in singles play.
 
Kamdem and newcomer Tom Thelwall-Jones took down Matias Sborowitz and Scotland Garapedian, 8-3, to kick off the morning. Kamdem would add another straight-set victory against Hawaii's Asad Siyyid 6-3, 6-4 in singles.
 
Siddall and Thelwall-Jones would drop their matches in two sets each. Siddall fell to Andre Illigan, of Hawaii, 7-6(4), 6-4. Thelwall-Jones dropped his singles match to Hawaii's Lucas Labrunie, 6-0, 6-2.
 
On the day, Tulsa went 2-0 in doubles action and posted a 2-2 record in singles play. The Golden Hurricane return to action this morning for day two of the Silverado Invitational.
