Golden Hurricane Conclude Competition at Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. - Members of the Tulsa men's tennis team competed in the men's singles and doubles consolation main draws on Thursday at the 2019 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships. Tulsa had played all of its matches in the All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
For the second consecutive day, both draws saw new start times due to inclement weather throughout the day.
No. 96 Kody Pearson suffered a 6-4, 6-3 loss to No. 55 Sean Hill of BYU.
Freshman Juan Pablo Cenoz faced No. 28 Joseph Guillin of UC Santa Barbara in the afternoon. Cenoz led 4-2 in the first set, but the Gaucho would come back to defeat the freshman 6-4, 6-4.
Sophomores Stefan Hampe and Tom Thelwall-Jones matched up with North Carolina junior Mac Kiger and senior Simon Soendergaard in doubles play. After falling 6-0 in the first set, the Golden Hurricane would take a 1-0 lead in the second frame. After trading games, the Tarheels would run away, 6-4.
Members of the men's tennis team will begin preparation for the Legacy Bank NWA Tennis Series 25K, starting on Sunday, Oct. 20, at Arkansas. The Golden Hurricane will then head to the ITA Regional Championships on Thursday, Oct. 24 at Oklahoma.
