Tulsa Women Golfers Place 7th at the Magnolia Invitational

STARKVILLE, Miss. –– The Tulsa women golfers placed 7^th in the 11-team field at the Magnolia Invitational on Monday. The Hurricane carded rounds of 299 and 296 today for a 54-hole total of 897, while junior Taylor Dobson placed 9^th overall with a score of 218.

The three-day tournament turned into a 2-day event as the teams played the final 36 holes at the par-72 Old Waverly Golf Club today due to the impending weather forecast for Tuesday.

Dobson, from nearby Broken Arrow, Okla., carded her best career round of 68 today, and also had her best career finish, placing 9^th overall. Starting on hole 11 for the final 18 holes, Dobson birdied with par-3 12^th and the par-4 16^th hole. She had three straight birdies in her final five holes – on holes 6, 7 and 8, but bogeyed her final hole, the par-5 10^th.

Sophomore Lorena Tseng and freshman Alex Christeson each turned in rounds of 74 on Monday. Tseng finished with a total score of 221 for 16^th place, while Christeson had a 241-total score.

Freshman Lilly Thomas had Tulsa's third-best overall finish as she placed 25th in her third collegiate event with a final score of 224. Thomas started the day with a core of 1-over par 73 for her first 18 holes, but had a 79 for the afternoon round.

Christeson placed 54^th, while sophomore Jasmine Zhang finished in 57^th place.

LSU led from start to finish, completing the tournament with an 856 score.

Tulsa will close out the fall season at the Las Vega Collegiate Showdown, Oct. 27-28, at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
