Pearson, Cenoz Test No. 30 Tigers in Doubles Qualifying Draw

TULSA, Okla. - Sophomore Kody Pearson and freshman Juan Pablo Cenoz tested the No. 30 doubles team in the country on Monday, as the Tulsa men's tennis team started singles and doubles qualifying draws. The Michael D. Case Tennis Center is playing host to the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships.

After defeating Austin Abbrat and Guido Marson of Texas A&M 7-6(1), 2-6, 1-0(8), the Golden Hurricane tandem took 30th-ranked Oscar Cutting and David Stevenson the distance in the second round of the doubles qualifying draw.

After falling in the first set 6-4, Pearson and Cenoz continued to trade games with the Tigers in the second set. But the Tigers were able to pull away in the tie break 7-6 (11-9).

Four Golden Hurricane took the court in the singles qualifying draw. Junior Boriss Kamdem forced a tie break against SMU's Ethan Leon. Despite fighting back to win the second set, the Golden Hurricane was unable to hold on 6-1, 5-7, 7-5. No. 110 Raphael Lambling defeated freshman Ezequiel Santalla 6-2, 6-2. Tom Thelwall-Jones suffered a 6-4, 6-3 defeat to TCU's Tadeas Paroulek. Stefan Hampe fell to Northwestern's Nick Brookes 6-4, 6-1.

The four Golden Hurricane who competed in the singles draw will play in the consolation bracket starting Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Tom Thelwall-Jones vs. Matthew Terry (Cleveland State) -- 10 a.m.

Stefan Hampe vs. No. 105 Ryan Seggerman (Princeton) -- 11 a.m.

Ezequiel Santalla vs. No. 56 Adam Ambrozy (Columbia) -- 11 a.m.
