Men’s Tennis to Host No. 9 San Diego for Afternoon Match

TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa Golden Hurricane men's tennis will host No. 9 San Diego Toreros men's tennis at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at 3 p.m. on March 1. The match is scheduled to be played outdoors but could be moved to indoor courts, pending weather conditions.

- The No. 9 ranked Toreros are 7-3 this season, with two of those losses coming against now-no. 11 Arizona State.
- San Diego has tallied at least one point in all their matches this year.
- USD is coming off a close 4-3 loss to UCLA on their home courts.
- The Toreros have the No. 32, 83, and 98 singles players in Oliver Tarnet, Manvydas Balciunas, and Stian Klaassen, respectively. Adrien Berrut and Lambert Ruland make up their No. 15 ranked doubles pair.
- The series record is 1-1. San Diego took the most recent in 2012 with a 4-3 win. The only other match in the series came in 2009, which Tulsa claimed 5-2.

- Tulsa opened its Saturday at the Reis Tennis Center with a commanding 4-0 sweep of Binghamton before dropping a tightly contested 4-2 decision to No. 26 Cornell in the evening match.
- The Golden Hurricane wasted no time setting the tone in the opener, clinching the doubles point behind wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Calum Jestin and Connor Doig secured a 6-4 victory at the top spot , while Victor Tosetto and Gus Tettamble were dominant in a 6-2 win on court three.
- Tulsa carried that momentum straight into singles. Doig rolled to a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 3, and Reiya Komagata added a 6-1, 6-3 victory on court five. Ruben Fernandez sealed the match at No. 2 with a 6-3, 6-2 decision, giving the Hurricane a clean 4-0 finish with three singles matches left unfinished.
- In the second match of the day, Tulsa again grabbed the early edge in doubles. Nikita Volonski and Timothy Carlsson Seger earned a 6-3 win at No. 2, and Tettamble and Tosetto battled to a 6-4 victory at No. 3 to claim the doubles point.
- Cornell responded in singles, however, taking four first-set leads across the courts and ultimately securing the team win. The Big Red picked up straight-set victories against Doig and Fernandez, 6-4, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-4, to swing momentum.
