TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa Men's Cross-Country coach Steve Gulley was selected as the Roy Griak Award winner for Midwest Region Coach of the Year by the USTFCCCA.

The men's team, led by Gulley, currently sits at No. 6 in the USTFCCCA poll coming off the school's first Midwest regional first place finish.

Coach Gulley on receiving the honor, "This is a great honor for our program, but the credit goes to Taylor who has worked with the men's team all season and has done a tremendous job.  I could not be prouder of him or the team."

Tulsa captured their sixth consecutive American Athletic Conference Championship on Nov. 1 as the Golden Hurricane individually secured the 2nd through 6th positions.

Coach Gulley, who is in his 19th season with Tulsa, wins the Midwest Region Coach of the Year award for the second time in his career. He last won the award in 2012 when he led the Hurricane to a third straight Conference USA Championship and a third place showing in the Midwest Regional Championships.

This Saturday, Gulley will take the men's and women's teams to run in the NCAA Cross Country Championships, held this year at Indiana State's LaVern Gibson Championships Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana.
