TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa head men's tennis coach Vince Westbrook sat down with Bruce Howard to look back at the team's historic 2019 fall season and the city of Tulsa playing host to the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's and Women's All-American Championships.
The Golden Hurricane competed in six events overall. Of the six tournaments, four counted towards individual records, as the Golden Hurricane went 20-27 in their singles matches and 6-10 in doubles competition.
Sophomore Kody Pearson became the fourth Golden Hurricane to win the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional Singles Title in Norman. A native of Australia, Pearson clinched an automatic bid to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Newport Beach, Calif., where he advanced to the Consolation Semifinals. Between the two events, he captured three-ranked wins against student-athletes ahead of him in the standings.
Pearson ended fall competition ranked 98th in the 2019 Oracle ITA Division I National Fall Rankings.
