TULSA, Okla.
– The University of Tulsa men's tennis squad (9-4) rallied late, but fell to the LSU Tigers (9-1) on Sunday inside the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, 5-2.

The Tigers got on the board first in doubles, as No. 30 Rafael/Wagner and Joey Thomas managed a 6-1 win over Tulsa's Majed Kilani and Jarod Hing. Tulsa's freshmen duo of Kody Pearson and Daniel Siddall then battled but dropped its match to the Tigers, 6-4.

In the No. 3 doubles spot, Boriss Kamdem and Tom Thelwall-Jones were leading 6-5 before the decisive point.

In solo play, LSU once again pulled ahead by two, as Kamdem fell to LSU's Thomas, 6-3, 6-2. The Golden Hurricane responded with a win at No. 2 singles, as sophomore Joshua Goodger earned a three-set win to pull Tulsa within one.

The Tigers again widened the deficit, as Hing battled to a third frame but dropped his match to Malik Bhatnagar, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. LSU managed the decisive match point in the No. 4 position, as Pearson fell for just the second time this season to the Tigers' Boris Kozlov, 7-5, 6-4.

In the final two singles matches of the afternoon, Kilani notched his eighth win of the dual season in a three-set battle with LSU's Shane Monroe, 7-6(3), 3-6, 1-0 (10-8). With the victory, the senior Tunisia native is 5-2 in the top singles spot for TU.

Freshman Stefan Hampe fell in another tight three-set match in the sixth spot, 5-7, 6-0, 7-6(5) to wrap up the day for the Golden Hurricane.

Despite the loss, Tulsa remains 9-3 on its home courts in the 2019 dual season. The Golden Hurricane will continue its tough stretch of matches next Saturday, as No. 9 Baylor travels to Tulsa for a 6 p.m. CT primetime match.
