Tulsa Softball to Open Home Slate This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa softball team will open its home schedule with three games this weekend as part of the OSU/TU Invitational at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
The Golden Hurricane (10-5) will host games against Northern Iowa (2:30 p.m.) and Illinois (5 p.m.) on Friday before an 11:30 a.m. matchup with Syracuse on Saturday.
Tulsa is coming off a 3-2 showing at the Texas Invitational last weekend that included a win over Ole Miss. In all, the Hurricane has won eight of its last 10 contests.
Through the first 15 games of the season, senior Julia Hollingsworth owns the top batting average in the American Athletic Conference at .538 and she ranks among the league's top five in hits (1st, 21), triples (2nd, 3), on-base percentage (3rd, .561), total bases (4th, 27), slugging percentage (5th, .692).
Morgan Neal also is off to a strong start to her senior campaign with a .333 batting average and six doubles, which is tied for the most in the circuit. Meanwhile, freshman Josie Muffley is hitting .353 with a team-leading seven RBIs.
In the circle, freshman Chenise Delce has a team-leading 1.67 ERA. Delce and sophomore Samantha Pochop each have a 4-2 record, while Pochop leads the pitching staff with 39 strikeouts. Kassidy Scott has a 1-1 mark and leads The American with three saves.
Northern Iowa leads the all-time series against TU, 11-7. The Hurricane have won four of its five previous meetings against Illinois and defeated Syracuse in its lone matchup with the Orange in 2017.
