PALM COAST, Fla. –– The Tulsa women's golf team turned in its best round of the 54-hole American Athletic Conference Championship on Tuesday to finish the event in 7th place, thus closing out the season.

Tulsa carded a 1-under par 287 and finished with an 895 score at the par-72 Conservatory Course at the Hammock Beach Resort today. Tulsa's final round score was the second-best of the day behind team champion Houston's score of 280, while it also tied for the 4th best round of the entire tournament.

"We had a disappointing finish this week as you always want a chance to be in contention entering the final round," said Tulsa head coach Annie Young. "With that being said, we played great today. It was nice to end on a good note, shooting the third lowest round of the tournament."

The Hurricane team counted 2-under par scores of 70, a 1-over par 73 and 2-over 74 for its final round total. The 2-under par scores came from freshman Lorena Tseng and sophomore Taylor Dobson to tie for 15th place with identical 3-round totals of 222.

Tseng started her final round at hole 10 and after ending her first 9 holes at 1-over par, she proceeded to birdie 4 consecutive holes on holes 4 thru 7, but a bogey on the final hole, the par-5 9th, put her at 2-under for the day. Dobson, also starting on hole 10, had 3 birdie putts and just one bogey on the day.

Freshman Sammy Liu finished in 23rd place with a score of 225 after today's 2-over par 74, while senior Johanna Samuelsson had her tournament-best 1-over par 73 on Tuesday, moving into 31st place with a 54-hole total of 229.

Tulsa freshman Jasmine Zhang placed 34th overall with a 230 score after turning in her best round of the event with a 75 today.

Houston claimed the title with an overall score of 851, a 30-shot victory over second-place UCF (891).  The Cougars' Leonie Harm won individual medalist honors with an 8-under par score of 208.
