TULSA, Okla. – Kansas jumped out to a 6-1 lead and held off Tulsa to score a 7-4 victory over the Golden Hurricane on Wednesday night at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

Julia Hollingsworth went 2-for-3 with a run scored and extended her program record for triples with the 14th of her career. The Golden Hurricane (24-11) saw its nine-game winning streak against the Jayhawks (14-21) come to an end.

Kansas pitchers worked around eight walks and recorded just one strikeout, but benefitted from several defensive gems in the field. Lexy Mills picked up the win to improve to 6-4, while Hannah Todd shut down a fifth-inning rally for the Hurricane to earn her second save of the spring.

The KU offense was led by Sydnee Ramsey, who went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.

Tulsa took the lead in the bottom of the first without getting a hit. Hollingsworth and Josie Muffley reached via a walk and hit-by-pitch, respectively, before two groundouts pushed a run across for the early advantage.

However, the lead would be short-lived as the Jayhawks scored three runs in the second off of four hits and the visitors would not trail again. The cushion expanded to 6-1 after Ramsey's two-run homer in the top of the fifth, which was followed by an RBI hit from Brittany Jackson.

Tulsa cut into the deficit in the bottom half of the frame with three runs of its own as Mills lost her control.

Hollingsworth opened the inning with her fourth triple of the season before Muffley walked. Morgan Neal then dropped an RBI single to left-center to make it 6-2. Mills was aided by a diving catch in center by Jackson, but walked the next three batters and tossed a wild pitch to help TU close the gap to 6-4.

With the bases still loaded, Todd entered the game and got a grounder to end the threat and preserve the advantage. Kansas would get an insurance run in the top of the seventh on Jennifer Marwitz's solo homer and Todd retired the side in the bottom of the inning to close out the 7-4 final.

Tulsa will return to American Athletic Conference play this weekend when it will host Houston (24-12, 2-4) in a three-game series at Collins Family Softball Complex.
