Tournament Bracket

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa softball team will head to the NCAA Stillwater Regional and face Arkansas at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, after the Golden Hurricane received an at-large bid, it was revealed Sunday night.

Tulsa (35-18) and Arkansas (38-18) are joined in the regional by No. 13 overall seed Oklahoma State (39-14) and BYU (29-24). Thursday's opener between Tulsa and Arkansas will be broadcast on ESPN3.

This will mark the 11th regional appearance for Tulsa and the fourth at-large bid in program history. All 11 regional appearances have come under 14th-year head coach John Bargfeldt, who now has guided TU to the NCAA Tournament in eight of the last nine seasons.

TU defeated the Razorbacks, 2-1, on March 13 with the help of a Haley Meinen homer, while Rylie Spell hit a go-ahead RBI double in the contest. The last time the programs met in the postseason, Meinen hit a walk-off home run to beat Arkansas in the opening game of the 2017 Norman Regional.

The Hurricane also split a pair of games with the Cowgirls this season, taking a 3-0 win on March 20 before a 5-0 setback on April 16. Each team won on its home field. In the TU victory, Tori Stafford hit a three-run homer and Chenise Delce tossed a one-hitter en route to the win.

In all, Tulsa has won nine of the last 11 games against Arkansas, while it has taken 12 of the last 14 contests against Oklahoma State. The Hurricane is 1-2 all-time against BYU and the teams have not met since 2010.
