The Tulsa women's basketball team added junior-transfer Madi Washington to the roster, as announced today by head coach Matilda Mossman

"Madi Washington automatically takes our guard play to another level," Mossman said.  "She is a combo guard who can score off the catch or off the dribble.  She will be really good in our on-ball-screen offense.  Not only does she bring us scoring, but she brings a great basketball IQ and a willingness to work.  Additionally, her two years of college experience is a huge boost."

Washington, a 5-9 guard from Red Oak, Texas, has spent the last two seasons at New Mexico, where she played in 61 career games.  She averaged 4.9 points per game (297) and 1.5 rebounds per game (94), while registering 45 assists, 28 steals and four blocks in 15.7 minutes per game.  She shot a 35.6-percent clip from the field, including 35.5-percent from three-point range, and was a 77.3-percent shooter from the free throw line.

During her freshman campaign, Washington scored in double-figures nine times, including 20 or more points twice, and tallied a career-high 27 points against Northern New Mexico.  As a sophomore, Washington had a season-high 15 points, all of which came from behind the three-point line, and six rebounds against Colorado State.  She was also selected to compete in the 2018 USA Basketball 3x3 Open National Championships and picked up academic all-Mountain West accolades twice.

Washington was a four-year letterwinner from Red Oak High School in Texas.  She was a three-time first-team all-district honoree, while being tabbed to the all-state team as a senior.  Washington averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game during her senior campaign.

Washington will not be eligible for the 2019-20 season and will sit out the year due to NCAA transfer rules.
