The Tulsa women's soccer team faced Oklahoma State in a preseason contest on Friday night at Neal Patterson Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.  The two teams battled it out for 90 minutes, but the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

"I feel like we have one of the deepest teams we've ever had, and to be able to put 24 of our kids out on the field tonight and see them compete was great," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said.  "We started four freshmen and we were able to play all three goalkeepers in this tough environment, so this was a great test to show us where we are at in the preseason."

The two teams went into the locker room at halftime tied 0-0, but OSU scored a quick goal in the second frame to go up 1-0 in the 49th minute.  Freshman Emilie Torres evened the score at the 55:04 mark as she shot from the top of the 18 off a pass from classmate Isold Runarsdottir.  Another freshman, Kayla Fernandez, gave TU the go-ahead score in the 65th minute, also from the top of the box.  The Cowgirls scored on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute to tie the score at 2-2.

Fernandez and classmate Jordan Martinez both had a team-best two shots, while Torres, Runarsdottir and Valiree Morris all had one attempt.

Kay Jones logged 29 minutes in the net and had a team-high four saves, while newcomer Jazmiera Ditter pulled in three saves, also in 29 minutes.  Mica MacKay played just over 31 minutes in goal and had one save.

"Over 1000 people were there to watch OSU open their new stadium," Cussen added.  "The energy was good and our kids fought the entire game.  I am proud of our effort and am excited about the future."

OSU had a 19-7 lead in shots, including a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal, and a 7-0 lead in corner kicks.

Tulsa will open the regular season against Texas Southern on Friday, August 23 in Lake Charles, La.
