The Tulsa women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Kansas State on Sunday afternoon at the Buser Family Park in Manhattan, Kan. The Golden Hurricane fell to 4-3 on the season, while the Wildcats moved to 2-4-2 overall.
"Of course we are disappointed with the outcome because we had our chances, but we didn't finish them today," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "K-State is a good team and better than their record shows. Mica did a good job and made some big saves. It is tough being on the road and I thought we bounced back after Friday night. We went into halftime, 0-0, but felt we could play better. We made a few adjustments at halftime, but we gave up the early second-half goal. We responded well and created chances, even at 2-0, we felt like we were still in it because we created quality chances. We need to get better in the final third, but I think we'll get back on the winning track."
Tulsa and Kansas State battled to a 0-0 score at halftime, but KSU's Katie Cramer struck early in the second half with her header off a corner kick in the 47th minute. Laramie Hall made it a two-goal cushion for K-State just under 11 minutes later as she scored in the 58th minute.
The Wildcats had a 20-10 lead in shots, including a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal, and an 8-2 lead in corner kicks.
Valiree Morris had a team-best four shots for the Golden Hurricane, while six others had one attempt. Mica MacKay logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up 10 saves.
Tulsa will return to action on Tuesday, September 17 against Oklahoma Baptist. Game time is set for 7:30 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.
