PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Tulsa junior runner Caitlin Klopfer has been named the American Athletic Conference Cross Country Female Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Klopfer took home her first individual title last Saturday at the Rhodes College Invitational after she crossed the finish line first with a 6K time of 21:26.3. The junior led the Golden Hurricane to a team victory over the field of 21 squads, which included conference foes Cincinnati and Memphis.

This is the first conference Athlete of the Week honor for Klopfer and the first for a TU runner since Oct. 20, 2015, when Marc Scott and Rachel Baptista each claimed the award.

The Golden Hurricane will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Chili Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
