THE GAME
• This is the 24th meeting between Tulsa and East Carolina and the 11th as American Athletic Conference members.
• ECU is 8-8 on the season ... the Pirates come into Saturday's match-up off of a 71-68 victory over SMU ... East Carolina has key wins over Evansville, Charlotte and USF.
• This will be the first of two games between Tulsa and ECU as the Golden Hurricane will welcome the Pirates to the Reynolds Center on Feb. 12.
• East Carolina enters the game 2-1 in the American Athletic Conference, while Tulsa is also 2-1 in conference play.
THE SERIES
• The Hurricane holds the series advantage at 20-3 ... the Hurricane is 10-1 at home against East Carolina and 7-2 on the road.
• Tulsa has won the last 5 meetings against the Pirates including both of last season's meetings.
• Tulsa's last meeting against ECU came on March 3, 2019 as the Hurricane won 91-78 in Tulsa .
• The last meeting at Williams Arena between the two teams came on Feb. 17, 2019 as the Hurricane won in overtime, 77-73.
• The first game between the two teams came in the 1984-85 season as Tulsa defeated ECU at home with a final of 86-63 in a non-conference contest.
LAST MEETING AGAINST EAST CAROLINA
• The Hurricane took on the Pirates in a conference home game on March 3, 2019, in the Reynolds Center, as Tulsa won by a score of 91-78 ... the game was Senior Day for the Hurricane.
• Curran Scott led Tulsa with a season-high 23 points, Martins Igbanu added to the double-digit scoring with 19 points ... Jeriah Horne put in 17 off of the bench.
• Tulsa assisted on 20 of their 32 shots and scored 36 points in the paint ... they also out-rebounded the Pirates 37-30.
• The Pirates shot 44.3-percent from the field ... ECU was led by Isaac Fleming, who led all Pirate scorers, with 20 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds ... Shawn Williams had 18 points while Seth Leday (15) and Jayden Gardner (10) rounded out the Pirates in double-figure scoring.
• The Hurricane started the second half on a 4-0 run to capture the double-figure lead ... Tulsa led by 8 or more for the rest of the second half.
TULSA SNAPS STREAK AGAINST COUGARS
• The Hurricane took on the Houston Cougars in the Reynolds Center on Jan. 11.
• Tulsa's Darien Jackson had his career-high in scoring with 19 points ... entering the contest Jackson was 0-18 from the three-point line in his career before sinking 3 threes in the second half.
• Brandon Rachal added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals while Jeriah Horne put in 10 points and 6 rebounds.
• Tulsa trailed 61-56 with 1:38 left in the game ... a Jackson 3 and 4 consecutive made free throws from Rachal gave the Hurricane the 63-61 victory ... the Cougars were held to 1 point the final 5 minutes of the contest.
• Tulsa shot 85-percent (17-20) from the free-throw and 46-percent from the field ... they held the Cougars to 29-percent shooting in the second half, 39 percent for the game.
• The Tulsa victory broke the Cougars 5-game winning streak over the Hurricane.
SCOUTING THE PIRATES
• East Carolina was picked to finish 11th in The American Athletic Conference ... the Pirates finished last season with a record of 10-21, 3-15 in conference play.
• The Pirates are 2-1 in conference this season defeating USF 62-59 and taking down SMU at home, 71-68.
• ECU is 7-2 at home this year with their only losses coming vs. Liberty on Nov. 16 with a final of 77-57 and against Coppin State, 85-75 on Dec. 3.
• The Pirates have The American's leading scorer in Jayden Gardner who averages 21.3 points ... he is also 3rd in the conference in rebounding (9.3) and 4th in field goal percentage (57%).
• Gardner was named to the American Athletic Conference's preseason second team … he has been selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week once and to the weekly honor roll 4 times.
A TULSA WIN WOULD
• Give Tulsa their 21st victory against East Carolina ... extending the 5-game winning streak against the Pirates to 6.
• Improve Tulsa's record to 3-1 in January.

• Since joining the American Athletic Conference prior to the 2014-15 season, the Golden Hurricane has posted 56 league wins, which is the fourth-most in the circuit during that time.
