Tulsa’s Deneric Prince Earns Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week Honorable Mention Accolades

TYLER, Texas ––
The University of Tulsa running back Deneric Prince was named as one of eight honorable mention selections for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week Award, it was announced today by the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler.
 
The award recognizes those football student-athletes meeting one of the following criteria: born in Texas and /or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college of four-year Division I Texas college.
 
Prince, a 6'1" sophomore, rushed for a season-high 109 yards on 15 carries for a 7.3 average in Tulsa's 42-13 win over USF last Friday night. He scored on touchdown runs of 27 and 62 yards. His 27-yard run put Tulsa ahead 21-6 and his 62-yard run came in the 3rd quarter and put the Hurricane in front by a score of 28-13.
 
Prince, from Manvel, Texas, played his prep football at Manvel High School and spent two years at Texas A&M before transferring to Tulsa.
 
The award, which began in 2012 and is sponsored by the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler, went to Ohio State running Back J.K. Dobbins
 
Named after 1977 Heisman Trophy-winning running back Earl Campbell, the award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
