Spotlight on Senior Robert Revels III
#4 Robert Revels III • 6-2 • 215 • Senior • Linebacker
What drives me …
I've watched my mom, Kimberly Austin, get up every morning and go to work. I'm a big brother to my little brother. I have a lot of people depending on me back home to do good things and not mess up my opportunity. I put my trust in God too.
My favorite part of football …
Meeting great teammates and making great memories.
Why I wear No. 4 …
My freshman year I was given the opportunity to choose No. 4. It just stuck with me. I like making plays in the number. I wore single digits in high school. I wore No. 7. I wanted to stay in single digits when I came to college that's why I chose it. No. 7 wasn't available when I first came here. A single digit jersey is pretty cool.
The favorite thing about my hometown of Houston …
The diversity and the different kind of people that you can meet in Houston. Plus, I love the cajun food.
When I knew that I wanted to play football in college …
Since I was about 5 years old, my uncle and godfather, James Goode, who played at Oklahoma (1986-90) and went onto play in the NFL, always told me that football is a way to get a free education and it will open up a lot of doors in your life. So, I took that advice and ran with it. He was a father figure in my life and his son, Cameron and I, were the same age. He's playing at Cal-Berkeley now.
The sports I played in high school:
I played varsity football for 4 years, basketball for 2 years and ran a little JV track.
My favorite NFL team …
The Houston Texans is my favorite team, simply because I'm from Houston.
My favorite NFL player …
I like DeShaun Watson a lot. His jersey is the only one that I have now, so I would say he's my favorite
My role model …
I have another uncle, Reginald Austin, who gets up to go to work at 3 in the morning. He got me my first car. He didn't have any kids, so he has treated his nephews and nieces like his own.
What I like about TU …
I love the professors on how they get to know you, and you have the opportunity to get to know them. You get to build connections around campus and around the community. You get a different level of respect when you say that you go to TU and that's pretty cool.
My hobbies …
I like to fish. I like to read and write. I love to eat.
My last book …
The last book I read was "Talking to Strangers" by Malcolm Gladwell.
My twitter handle … @_RobisRob
Hashtag that describes me … #Blessed
