Tulsa Drops Two on First Day of the Baylor Invitational

WACO, Texas – The Tulsa Golden Hurricane lost the first two games of the Baylor Invitational, 11-0 to #17/13 Minnesota and 1-0 to RV/RV Baylor.
Chenise Delce started against Minnesota in the circle throwing 3.2 innings, allowing 7 hits and 5 earned runs, striking out 3 batters in the process.
Kassidy Scott relieved Delce in the fourth inning, throwing 0.1 innings facing 3 batters. Madison Higley saw her first action, while freshman Sara Howell closed the game pitching 1.0 innings, striking out a batter.
Down 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Delce led off from the plate with a walk. She would advance to third base on a wild pitch with no outs, however, a strikeout and two ground outs ended the inning for the Hurricane stranding Delce at third.
Junior Samantha Pochop started the second game against the host Baylor Bears.The Henderson, Nev. native put in 6.0 innings of work, allowing 6 hits and 1 earned run.
In the top of the seventh inning, Kylie Norwood drew a walk giving the Hurricane a runner down 1-0 to the Bears. Haley Morgan pinch ran for Norwood and advanced to second on a wild pitch. The Hurricane ended the game with a foul out, line out and a strikeout, moving the Hurricane to 8-3 on the season.
In both games, Tulsa did not record a hit, securing three walks in both games combined. In both games Tulsa recorded an error.
Tulsa (8-3) returns to the diamond tomorrow to face off against RV Illinois in the second day of the Baylor Invitational.
