Tulsa Men's Tennis Secures Wins over Omaha, Oral Roberts on Sunday

TULSA, Okla. - 
The Tulsa men's tennis team captured a pair of wins on Sunday, as the Golden Hurricane defeated Omaha, 4-3, and Oral Roberts, 4-0, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of TU. The Golden Hurricane improve to 10-5 overall and are now on a three-match winning streak. The Mavericks fall to 3-8, while the Golden Eagles now stand at 5-6 on the year. Tulsa has now won three straight matches over Omaha, and improved its winning streak to 20 matches over ORU since 2000.

The Hurricane hit the road for four of their next five matches, all of which are against teams in the Big 12. Tulsa is set to play at No. 12 TCU (9-4) on Friday at 5:30 p.m., followed by No. 4 Texas (10-3) on Sunday at 11 a.m. in Austin, Texas.

Match 1: Tulsa 4, Omaha 3
Tulsa trailed early in doubles play, as Jarod Hing and Tom Thelwall-Jones fell in the top spot to Matt Hulme and Nathan Reekie of Omaha, 6-3. While the Golden Hurricane trailed at all three courts, Juan Pablo Cenoz and Connor Di Marco found a way to fight back from two games down for a 6-4 win in the No. 2 position over Abdoul Ouattara and Davis Lawley. Boriss Kamdem and Daniel Siddall cemented the doubles point in a 7-5 triumph over Ethan Henry and Hugo Piles Ballester at No. 3 doubles.

Thelwall-Jones' fifth straight win in singles put TU back in front, 2-1, as the sophomore earned a 6-1, 6-3 win over Yaswanth Mylavarapu in the No. 5 slot. Cenoz tallied the third point of the day for TU at No. 3 singles over Reekie, 6-2, 6-2. That put the Hurricane on top, 3-2. Siddall clinched the match for TU in the No. 6 position, as he improved to 5-0 in his dual matches and 4-0 in the bottom spot, 6-3, 6-3, against Piles Ballester.

With the Hurricane having secured their ninth win of the season, Kamdem retired at No. 4 singles 7-6(6), 1-1 vs. Lawley.

Match 2: Tulsa 4, Oral Roberts 0
In just their second match together, Connor Di Marco and Juan Pablo Cenoz notched their second doubles win of the day in the middle spot with a 6-2 victory over Marcello Moreira and Andre Russo. With the match tied at 1-1, Daniel Siddall and Boriss Kamdem kept the Hurricane alive at No. 3 doubles, as the tandem rallied for a 7-5 win against Mert Celik and Eddy Leardini.

The first singles win of the night came from Tom Thelwall-Jones, who took down Russo at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Di Marco extended the lead with a straight sets win over Barnabas Knocz in the No. 2 slot, 6-3, 6-2. Kamdem clinched the match for the Hurricane in a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at No. 4 singles over Celik.
