
Two Tulsa Student-Athletes Earn National Academic Momentum Awards

TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa women's basketball star Kendrian Elliott and football student-athlete Robert Revels III were among 47 collegiate student-athletes selected as recipients of the 2019-20 Academic Momentum Award, it was announced today by The Scholar Baller program in conjunction with the Institute for Sports and Social Justice (ISSJ).
Elliott and Revels III were first-team selections as both student-athletes majored in organizational studies. Each graduated earlier this month, but Revels III will return for his final season of football eligibility.
Top nominations were categorized into three teams based on each student-athlete's academic improvement and the impact each student-athlete's academic performance had on his or her classmates, teammates, academic advisors, and professors.
Elliott, a forward from Wichita, Kansas, completed her senior season as Tulsa's leading scorer and rebounder with 12.8 points and 8.5 rebounds, respectively. Elliott led Tulsa in rebounding 24 times, blocked shots 19 times, scoring 13 times and both assists and steals in six games. She had 19 double-figure scoring games, 13 double-digit rebounding games and nine double-doubles on the year. Elliott scored a career-high 38 points and added 12 rebounds against Arkansas State.
A linebacker from Houston, Texas, Revels III has recorded 49 career tackles in 39 games, Last year, after returning from an injury that sidelined him in 2018, he recorded six tackles and had one fumble recovery and forced one fumble.
A total of 21 male and female award recipients from ISSJ partner schools were selected for the Academic Momentum Award First Team, 12 recipients were chosen for the Academic Momentum Award Second Team, and 14 recipients were selected for the Academic Momentum Award Third Team.
