Former Tulsa women's basketball standout Mariah Turner (2011-15) was named as the Director of Operations, while Dylan Mitchell takes over the Director of Player Development role, as announced today by head coach Matilda Mossman.

"It is always fulfilling to bring back former student-athletes to your staff," Mossman said.  "They already have a sense of the expectations and the vision you have for your program.  For as much as Mariah excelled on the basketball court, she further represented our program academically, socially and through community service.  Mariah has an infectious personality and people are naturally drawn to her.  She has had great logistical training through the WBCA office, the University of Oklahoma Athletics, and most recently, the Big 10 office.  Additionally, I knew Mariah's family before she played for us at TU, so I know we are gaining a valuable family member who aligns with the core values of our program.  She will be able to hit the ground running!"

Turner has spent the past two years (2018-20) as an intern for the Big Ten Conference with the football and basketball championship operations department.  She was responsible for equipment, shipments, signage, halftime entertainment contracts and booking, as well as implementing strategies of the Big Ten's S.C.O.R.E. community outreach program.

Turner also served as a Women's Basketball Coaches Association logistics intern (2017-18), Atlanta Falcons training camp logistics intern for two summers (2017-18), University of Oklahoma football game day assistant (2017) and University of Oklahoma event management graduate assistant (2016-17).

A four-year letterwinner and two-year starter at TU, Turner earned playing time in 120 games and had 54 starts, and career averages of 7.7 points (937) and 4.5 rebounds (548).  She had three double-doubles, 47 double-figure scoring games and three double-digit rebounding contests.  Turner concluded her career ranked second on Tulsa's career top-10 list with a .548 field goal percentage, fourth in games played, eighth in rebounds, and ninth in free throws made (218) and field goals made (358).

Turner earned her bachelor's degree in organizational studies from Tulsa in 2015, and her master's degree in intercollegiate athletics administration from the University of Oklahoma in 2017.

This will be Mitchell's second season with the Golden Hurricane program as he served as the Director of Video Services during the 2019-20 season.  He was responsible for filming, video break-down for games and practice, and recruit film.

Mitchell came to Tulsa after three seasons (2016-19) as a student manager with the University of Florida women's basketball program.

"Dylan did so much for us "outside the box" in his first year as our video coordinator it was only natural to move him into the Player Development position," Mossman said.  "He's a bright young man who relates well to others and is always willing to go the extra mile.  I love it when people are willing to do things outside their "job description" and Dylan is that guy.  I love that we were able to retain him on our staff and look forward to using his ingenuity in different ways.  Dylan has made this a seamless transition!"
