The Game
•  Tulsa will take on the Wichita State in a conference road matchup at the Charles Koch Arena Wednesday on ESPN+.
•  The game is the 11th contest for Tulsa (7-3) this season ... the Shockers are 7-3 on the season winning their last contest 82-76 at home in a AAC contest against Cincinnati on Jan. 10.

Scouting the Shockers
•  The Shockers are 7-3 (3-1 AAC) on the season ... Wichita State is 4-2 at home and 3-1 on the road with road wins at Ole Miss, USF and Tulsa.
•  The Shockers opened their season with a win at home against Oral Roberts 85-80 ... they dropped the next
two games to Missouri 72-62 and Oklahoma State 67-64.
•  Wichita State was picked to finish 7th in the preseason American Athletic Conference Coaches Poll ... the Shockers
returned eight, including three starters from last season, when the team went 23-8 and 11-7 in conference play.
•  The Shockers are led in scoring by guard Tyson Etienne who is averaging 17.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists
per game ... graduate transfer Alterique Gilbert is averaging 9.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game for
Wichita State.
•  Wichita State is led by Interim Head Coach Isaac Brown, who was promoted to interim after serving as an assistant
coach for the Shockers since 2014.

The Series
•  This will be the 134th contest between the Golden Hurricane and the Shockers ... the first game between the two
teams was in 1930 as Tulsa defeated Wichita State 32-30 on the road.
•  Wichita State holds a 71-62 series advantage over TU, with the last Tulsa win coming on Feb. 1, 2020 ... the
Hurricane won the contest 54-51, behind a career-high 22 points from Elijah Joiner.
•  Tulsa and Wichita State split last years meetings with each winning on their home court ... the Shockers defeated
the Hurricane 79-57 on March 8, 2020 to end last year's regular season.
•  Since Wichita State joined the AAC during the 2017-18 season, the Shockers have a 6-1 record.

A Tulsa Win Would
•  Give the Hurricane its 8th win of the season, moving Tulsa to 8-3 on the year.
•  Move Tulsa's all-time record against Wichita State to 71-63.
•  Give Tulsa its first win in Wichita, Kan. since TU defeated the Shockers 82-76 on Dec. 8, 2001, snapping an 8-game road losing streak in the series.

Last Win Against the Shockers
• Tulsa defeated No. 23 Wichita State 54-51 with a last second three-pointer by Elijah Joiner on Saturday, Feb. 1.
•  Tulsa forced a shot clock violation by the Shockers with 0:03.3 remaining, thus giving the Hurricane one last chance in regulation to break the tie ... Joiner took the inbounds pass from Brandon Rachal near the top of the key, and with one 10th of a second left on the game clock Joiner launched the game-winner from 25 feet.
•  Joiner ended the game with a career-high 22 points, along with a career-best five 3-pointers made.
•  Trailing 14-7, the Hurricane went on a 12-4 run to take a 19-18 lead on a Joiner 3-pointer with 3:43 left in the first half … Tulsa would lead by 2 points at 22-20 on a Joiner 3-pointer before the Shockers closed out the half on a 9-1 run and went into intermission ahead 29-23.

Hurricane Rising in the Net
•  As of Jan. 11, 2021, the Golden Hurricane has moved to 53rd in the NET Rankings ... the ranking is second in the American Athletic Conference trailing only No. 11 Houston who is ranked 7th.
•  Tulsa has played in 7 Quad 1 and Quad 2 matchups this season ... TU has a 4-3 record in those games including a Quad 1 victory against Houston, ranked No. 5 at the time. 
•  This season the American Athletic Conference has been a strong conference with the lowest ranked NET team being higher than the lowest in the Big Ten, Big East, SEC, and Pac 12 ... the Hurricane has started 4-1 in the AAC. 

1-2 in the AAC 
•  Tulsa's Darien Jackson and Rey Idowu are ranked 1-2 in The American for field goal percentage.
•  The 6'3" Jackson has knocked down 75.6 percent of his shots, nailing 34-of-45 field goals.
•  Idowu, a 6'9" newcomer to the Tulsa roster this year, has converted 37-of-63 field goals for a field goal percentage of .587.
•  Seniors Brandon Rachal and Elijah Joiner also rank among the league's to-11 for field goal percentage … Rachal has knocked down 50.9 percent of his shots (55-of-108) and Joiner is at 48.3 percent (28-of-58).
