WICHITA, Kan. – Darien Jackson and Elijah Joiner both score in double-figures for the Golden Hurricane, but Tulsa falls in the end to Wichita State 72-53 in the Charles Koch Arena Wednesday night.

Jackson led Tulsa in scoring with 12 points and rebounds with 9 boards, tying his season-high. The senior scored 10 points in the second half, while grabbing 5 offensive rebounds.

Joiner put in 11 points on 5-12 (42-percent) shooting from the field, while grabbing 3 rebounds, dishing out 2 assists and pulling in a steal for TU without committing a turnover.

The Hurricane fall to 7-4 and 4-2 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Shockers move to 8-3 and 4-1 in the league

The Hurricane used a 12-0 second half run to cut the Shockers 17-point lead to 47-42 with 9:43 left in the half. The five-point deficit was the closest the Hurricane came to the Wichita State lead since being down 23-18 with 7:29 left in the first half.

With 3:31 left in the second half, Joiner knocked down a three cutting the Shockers lead to 8 at 61-53; however, Wichita State closed the game on an 11-0 run securing the 72-53 victory.

Joiner and Jackson led the charge for the Hurricane in the second half, combing to score 17 of Tulsa's 29 points on 8-15 (53-percent) shooting from the field.

Rey Idowu started the scoring for the Hurricane making a jumper in the lane, after the Shockers built an early 5-0 lead.

Tulsa ended the first half on a 4-minute scoring drought before Austin Richie hit a pull-up jumper with 2 seconds remaining in the opening half.
