Brianna Hays Wins 800-Meter Dash Event at Division I Challenge

Brianna Hays won the 800-Meter Dash event, while four Tulsa student-athletes earned second-place marks and seven claimed third-place finishes on Friday at the Division I Challenge hosted by Wichita State at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kan.

WOMEN
On the women's side, TU registered one first-place mark, four second-place finishes and two third-place marks.

Hays had the best finish of the day for the Golden Hurricane, recording a time of 2:13.25, to cross the finish line first. Teammate Jaidah McCallon was just one one-hundredth of a second behind in second place. Kinga Parrish recorded a fifth-place time of 2:17.09 in the event.

Jaidyn McCallon was second in the 400-Meter Dash with a time of 56.15, while Elizabeth Roca was fourth (57.66) and Kaitlyn Johnson was eighth (59.42).

In the Long Jump, Carsyn Spurgeon recorded the second longest jump on the day with a distance of 18'6.5".

Katharina Pesendorfer registered a time of 4:56.36 in the Mile Run and a time of 17:05.63 in the 5,000-Meter Run to capture second and third-place finishes, respectively.Â

Jaidah McCallon, Roca, Johnson and Jaidyn McCallon combined for a third-place mark in the 4x400-Meter Relay with a time of 3:52.40.

MEN
On the men's side, TU earned five third-place marks.
Â
Josh Sutton crossed the finish line in 6.93 seconds for third place in the 60-Meter Dash, while Joseph Nemec was in eighth-place with a time of 7.13.

In the 400-Meter Dash, Henry Visser captured a third-place time of 49.63, Kyran Lacy was sixth (50.71) and Emmanuel Okwuone was eighth (51.42).

Jacob Brown was third in the 800-Meter Run in a time of 1:55.37, while Jerik Embleton was third in the 5,000-Meter Run with a time of 14:40.86.

Visser, Lacy, Okwuone and Brown raced the 4x400-Meter Relay to a third-place time of 3:23.60.
