TULSA, Okla. –– The nation's 67th-ranked Kody Pearson took down 37th-ranked Parker Wynn at the No. 1 spot to clinch Tulsa's 5-2 win over the No. 23-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The win gave the Hurricane its second win in two days over teams from two of the country's top tennis leagues, Washington of the PAC-12 on Friday and today the Red Raiders of the Big 12.

Tulsa improved to 5-3 on the year and Tech fell to 2-2. When a day earlier it was the bottom of the lineup, No. 5 and No. 6, and then No. 2 Ezequiel Santalla pulling through for the Hurricane, today it was the top to middle of the lineup with Pearson's win at No. 1 and wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions.

Pearson won his first set 7-6 by winning the tiebreaker 7-3. He jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the second set and held on for a 6-2 victory to clinch Tulsa's second win in as many days.

Tulsa again got off to a strong start when the No. 1 team of Pearson and Connor Di Marco and the No 2 team of Borris Kamdem and Thom Thelwall-Jones won their doubles matches, both by 6-4 scores, to give the Hurricane a 1-0 lead.

Di Marco gave Tulsa a 2-0 lead when he won with straight set scores of 6-2 over the nation's 115th-ranked Reed Collier. Tech knotted the team score at two wins apiece by claiming victories at the No. 2 and No. 6 spots.

Tulsa went up 3-2 over the Red Raiders when Stefan Hampe won 7-5 and 6-1 at the No. 4 spot to set-up Pearson's clinching match for the Hurricane. After dropping his first set, No. 5 Juan Pablo Cenoz closed out the 5-2 win for Tulsa by winning the second set 6-3 and capturing the third set tiebreaker 10-4.

Tulsa will host No. 20-ranked Ole Miss at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center next Sunday with a 12 p.m. match time.
