Tulsa Tennis Gets 7-0 Win in Cross-Town Matchup Against ORU

TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa Golden Hurricane men's tennis team traveled across town to face the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles Monday afternoon and came away with a 7-0 victory at the Bernis Duke Tennis Center on the ORU campus.

Tulsa improved to 6-4 on the season with its first road win of the season.

The Hurricane swept all three double matches to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

In singles, Tulsa took flights 2 through 6 in straight sets, while at No. 1 Kody Pearson came back from a 6-4 loss in the opening set to even the match with a 6-1 win in the second set. Pearson held off Volodymyr Zakharov in the third set tiebreaker 11-9.

Ezequiel Santalla took a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2, Stefan Hampe at the No. 3 spot won 6-3, 6-1 and Juan Pablo Cenoz captured a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 4 slot.

Boriss Kamdem at No. 5 and Thomas Thelwall-Jones at the No. 6 spot also claimed wins. Kamdem 6-2, 6-1 and Thelwall-Jones 6-2, 6-2.

Tulsa returns to the Michael D. Case Tennis Center Wednesday to begin a 9-match home-stand that brings four top-25 ranked opponents to town. The Hurricane hosts #21 Arizona State in a 3 p.m. match this Wednesday.
