Tulsa Men’s Tennis Team Downs Wichita State 5-2

TULSA, Okla. –– The 40th- ranked Tulsa men's tennis team captured a 5-2 victory over the Wichita State Shockers Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Tulsa improved to 8-6 on the season, while the Shockers fell to 9-5.
The Hurricane took a 1-0 lead with doubles wins by the No. 1 team of Connor Di Marco and Kody Pearson and the No. 3 team of Ezequiel Santalla and Daniel Siddall.
Wichita State tied the score 1-1 with a win at the No. 6 singles spot, but Tulsa won four straight matches at No. 3, 5, 1 and 4 to take the victory. Connor D Marco put the Hurricane back ahead 2-1 at the No. 3 spot with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Juan Pablo Cenoz at No. 5, Kody Pearson at No. 1 and Stefan Hampe at No. 4 gave the Hurricane a 5-1 advantage.
Cenoz won 7-5, 6-1 and Pearson won with identical set scores of 6-4. Hampe went to a tiebreaker in the first set for a 7-6 win and won the second set 6-3 to give Tulsa its fifth win.
Tulsa will be back in action tomorrow at the Case Tennis Center for a 1 p.m. matchup against the SEC's LSU Tigers.
