POCHOP'S DOMINACE REWARDED
• Junior pitcher Samantha Pochop dominated during the Jayhawk Invitational, drawing starts against South Dakota on March 19 and North Dakota State on March 20.
• Pochop went 13 innings across the two games, allowing only 8 hits without a run ... Pochop kept opposing batters to a .170 batting average.
• In the two games from the circle, Pochop struck out 23 batters and allowed only two walks.
• The Nevada native put in her first shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory against North Dakota State ... the contest was also her first complete game of the season.
• For her 2-0 record with 13 scoreless innings, Pochop was named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the week ... it was the first time a Hurricane pitcher has been awarded Pitcher of the Week.
HURRICANE CONSISTENT IN JAYHAWK INVITATIONAL
• Tulsa went 4-1 during the Jayhawk Invitational, using strong pitching and clutch at bats to defeat South Dakota and North Dakota State twice each.
• The Hurricane pitching staff showed out for TU in the 5 contest, as each pitcher saw action ... Samantha Pochop threw 13 scoreless innings going 2-0 during the weekend ... Kylee Nash and Sara Llamas-Howell both picked up their first wins of the season.
• Kassidy Scott recorded her 8th and 9th career saves ... she needs two saves to break the all-time career record at Tulsa which is held by Caitlin Sill with 10.
• Aubree Seaney led the Hurricane from the plate with 5 hits, recording a .357 batting average ... Haley Morgan, Makayla Jackson and Kylie Norwood each recorded their first home runs of the season.
A LOOK AHEAD - LOUISIANA TECH
• The Hurricane will close its non-conference play this weekend, March 27-28, in the Collins Family Softball Complex against Louisiana Tech.
• Tulsa will take on the Lady Techsters in a double-header on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. ... the series finale will take place on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
• The Lady Techsters enter the series with a 7-12 record overall on the season ... their last series they won 2-1 on the road against Memphis.
• Louisiana Tech is led in the circle by Bre Hernandez who has drawn 6 starts with a 3-4 record ... from the plate Kara Goff leads the Lady Techsters with a .277 batting average, 13 hits and 10 RBIs.
