
Tulsa Women’s Hoops to Face Wichita State in American Championship First Round

The Tulsa women's basketball team will face Wichita State in the first round of the Air Force Reserve American Athletic Conference Championship on Monday, March 8 beginning at 1:30 pm at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, as announced today by the league office.
TU and WSU met in the final regular season game of the season on March 2, with the Shockers capturing an 85-77 overtime win in Tulsa. This will be the 25th time that the two teams will meet on the women's basketball court, with the Shockers owning a 20-4 lead in the series.
Tulsa concluded the regular season with a 5-13 overall record and a 4-13 mark in The American to earn the No. 8 seed. Maya Mayberry has a team-best 14.3 points per game, while Wyvette Mayberry adds 12.3 ppg and a team-best 55 assists. Jessika Evans pulls down a team-leading 5.8 rebounds per game, and Rebecca Lescay has 38 steals and seven blocks.
Wichita State is the No. 9 seed as they finished with a 5-11 overall record and a 2-9 mark in the league. Four players are averaging double-digit points for WSU, including Asia Strong (15.4), Mariah McCully (12.0), Rachel Johnson (11.5) and Seraphine Bastin (10.1). Bastin has a team-best 7.5 rebounds per game and 79 assists, while DJ McCarty has 23 steals and Trajata Colbert has 23 blocks.
