TULSA, Okla. ––
The Tulsa softball team moved to 4-3 on the season with two home wins Saturday afternoon over the Omaha Mavericks at the Collins Family Softball Complex. The Hurricane took the opening game of the doubleheader by a score of 9-4 and run-ruled the Mavericks in Game 2 with an 11-3 decision.

On the day, Chenise Delce in the opener and Samantha Pochop in the nightcap picked up the wins for the Hurricane. Freshman Imani Edwards totaled 3 hits and 3 RBI on the day, while Alexis Perry had 3 RBI on 2 hits, and Tajiah Ellison tallied 5 RBI on 2 hits, all in the second contest.

Delce faced 18 batters in 4.2 innings and allowed 3 hits, while throwing 7 strikeouts. Pochop picked up her first win of the season in the nightcap by allowing just 6 hits in 24 batters faced and tossed 6 strikeouts.

In Game 1, Tulsa snapped a 4-4 tie in the bottom half of the 6th inning with 5 runs, taking a 9-4 lead into the 7th. Edwards' two-run single and Perry's 3-run blast over the left field fence gave the Hurricane its 5-run lead.

Omaha left one on base to close out the game in the top of the 7th.

Tulsa scored one run in the 1st inning of Game 2 and exploded for 8 runs over the two inning stretch of the 4th and 5th. The Hurricane scored all 4 of its 4th inning runs with two outs as Ellison singled in Haley Morgan and Sarah Briers. The next batter, Kylie Norwood, scored Ellison and Grace Jarvis to put Tulsa ahead 5-1.

Omaha scored twice in the top of the 5th, but the Hurricane again put up 4 runs in the bottom of the inning. Already with one run scored and bases loaded, it was Ellison again who did the damage with a double to center field that cleared the bases for a 9-3 lead.

The Hurricane added two runs in the bottom of the 6th for the run-rule victory

GAME 1
Tulsa used a 5-run 6th inning to blow open Saturday's first game of the doubleheader and give the Hurricane its final 9-4 advantage over the Omaha Mavericks.

Imani Edwards' two-run single snapped the 4-4 tie in the 6th and Tulsa's next batter, Alexis Perry, drove a 3-run homer well over 6th street in left field for the 5-run edge.

Edwards had Tulsa's only multi-hit game with 2 hits and 3 RBI on 4 at-bats, while Perry also had 3 RBI. Chenise Delce made a relief appearance for the Hurricane and allowed 3 hits and one run, while striking out 7 batters.

Omaha put the first runs on the board in the 1st inning with a three-run HR by Diana Murtha. Tulsa's Llamas-Howell got the first two outs of the game before the Mavericks had its first hit on a single and a Tulsa error put two runners on base to set up Murtha's home run.

Kylie Norwood opened Tulsa's half of the inning with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by Alexis Perry, cutting its deficit to 3-1.

The Hurricane knotted the score with 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd as Aubree Seaney and Kyndal Pirtle started it off with back-to-back singles and both crossed home plate to tie the game. The Mavericks didn't leave the game tied very long as Sydney Ross soared one over the left center field fence for a 4-3 lead in the top of the 3rd inning.

Tulsa tied the score in the bottom of the 4th when Celyna Shaw scored on a wild pitch. Two innings later the Hurricane splurged for its 5 runs and the eventual victory.
