Perry dominated from the plate, setting a new single-game record for runs batted in during the third game of the series. She drove in 7 Hurricane batters on 3 hits, ending the game with a double, grand slam and a run scored.
The Oklahoma City, Okla. native set the single-game RBI record of 7 during the first game of the double header. The previous record of 6 runs batted in during a single game happed 6 times in TU history. The last time it happened was in 2014, as Julie Kernen drove in 6 at UTEP on April 27, 2013.
In the series finale, Perry continued her strong showing by adding two more RBIs on a double, while also scoring two runs. The senior third baseman did not play in the first two games of the series due to an injury.
Pochop received her third AAC weekly honor, by being named to the AAC Weekly Honor roll. She threw 8.1 innings, allowing 1 unearned run on 6 hits while striking out 12 during the series. The junior drew the start in the second game throwing 6 innings on shutout softball, picking up her 7th win of the season.
In the third game, Pochop relieved Kylee Nash, throwing 2.1 innings striking out 6 batters. She allowed an unearned run, but the Henderson, Nev. native captured her first save of the season, tying her for 4th all-time in TU history with 7 saves.
The honors are the 9th time that a Hurricane has received American Athletic Conference weekly honors. Pochop (Apr. 12 and Apr. 19) joins Perry (March 29) Chenise Delce (March 8 and Apr. 5) and Kylie Norwood (Apr. 5) as Hurricane players named to the Honor Roll.
Perry is the second Hurricane to receive Player of the Week honors, as Haley Morgan (March 8) was named Player of the Week after her performance during the OSU/TU Tournament. Perry, Morgan and Pochop are the only Hurricane to be selected for Player of the Week awards this season.
