Tulsa women's basketball student-athlete Rebecca Lescay announced today that she will be returning for the 2021-22 season.
"When you are presented with an opportunity to play the sport you're passionate about for another year, you take it," Lescay said. "I'm excited to be back and take care of business with my teammates. I'm also excited to be a part of a new era at TU with Coach Nelp and the rest of the coaching staff. Reign 'Cane!"
Lescay started every game last season, averaged 7.9 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game, and shot 38.3-percent from the field. Lescay also had a team-best 38 steals and eight blocks on the season. In her career, Lescay averages 6.4 points (707) and 3.2 rebounds (359), has 223 assists, 179 steals and 30 blocks, and has started in 92 of 111 contests.
Lescay, who earned her bachelor's degree in marketing in 2020, will continue to work on her master's degree in business analytics.
"I am very glad that Rebecca has made the decision to return to play next season under the NCAA Covid Relief Legislation," Tulsa Head Coach Angie Nelp said. "She is tough, a proven leader and her experience will be an invaluable asset as our team works towards future success."
The NCAA announced in October that all student-athletes would be granted an extra year of eligibility due to the coronavirus pandemic.
