
Tulsa’s Patrick Dever Advances to NCAA Championships

Tulsa's Patrick Dever finished fifth in the 10,000m run at the NCAA West Preliminary on Wednesday night at E.B. Cushing Stadium in Bryan-College Station, Texas. With today's finish he advances to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon in June (June 9-12).
Dever's time of 29:11.08 was 20.97 seconds behind first-place finisher Iowa State's Wesley Kiptoo (28:50.11), but just 0.72 seconds behind Arkansas' second-place finisher, Gilbert Boit. Scott Beattie finished 17th with a time of 29:41.26, while Peter Lynch was 30th in a time of 30:24.54.
In the 1,500m run, Isaac Akers recorded a time of 3:48.66 for 32nd place. He missed qualifying for the quarterfinals by 2.65 seconds and was short of his best time of the season by nearly six seconds.
Zachary Adee recorded a time of 10.486 for 40th place in the 100m dash and did not qualify for the quarterfinals. He was shy of his season-best by .10 (10.38).
Akers and Dever will race in the 5,000m run on Friday, while Caitlin Klopfer will run the 10,000m and Ali Lund will throw the javelin on Thursday, and Ashley Barnes and Katharina Pesendorfer will compete in the 3,000m steeplechase on Saturday.
