
TU Rowing Alumni in Olympic Semifinals on Tuesday Night

Michelle Sechser and Jennifer Casson will compete against each other in the Lightweight Women’s Double Sculls Tuesday at 9:50 p.m. (CT)
TOKYO, Japan –– The University of Tulsa rowing alumni Michelle Sechser, representing the United States, and Jennifer Casson of Canada will compete in the semifinals of the Lightweight Women's Double Sculls on Tuesday, July 27, at 9:50 p.m. (CT)
The rowing events have been moved one day later due to expected adverse weather conditions.
Casson and her teammate Jill Moffatt advanced with a heat time of 7:11.30, while Sechser and teammate Mary Reckford advanced out of the repechage with their top time of 7:21.25, more than five seconds ahead of second-place Belarus.
Both the U.S. and Canadian teams will race in the second semifinal Tuesday night. The top three boats from each of the two semifinal races will advance to the finals.
