Tulsa rowing head coach Kevin Harris announced today the addition of Bailey Blood, Kateryna Klymenko and Renae Workman to the Golden Hurricane coaching staff.

Blood will serve as the Second Assistant, Klymenko the Third Assistant and Renae as the Graduate Assistant, while current assistant coach Olivia Staff was promoted to First Assistant.

Blood comes to Tulsa after serving as the graduate assistant at the University of Kansas for two seasons (2019-21).  At KU, Blood assisted with winter break training camp, walk-on tryouts, prospective student-athlete visits and compliance reports.

Blood was a four-year letterwinner at Kansas (2015-19) and raced in the stroke seat of the Varsity 8+ as a senior.

Blood earned her bachelor's degree in journalism in 2019 and her master's degree in leadership in diversity and inclusion in 2021, both from the University of Kansas.

"We are very excited to welcome Bailey to Tulsa," Harris said.  "We, of course, competed against her when she was a student-athlete at Kansas.  I know she is a strong competitor and will bring that trait to Tulsa.  She also has a keen intellect and a desire to do the hard work it takes to become a successful coach at our level.  Bailey is going to be a great addition to our team and we are all looking forward to working with her."

Klymenko comes to Tulsa from the University of Central Oklahoma where she helped her team claim the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship as a graduate rower.  Prior to graduate school, Klymenko was an athlete instructor at the Ministry of Sport in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Klymenko earned her bachelor's degree in physical education from the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine in 2019, and her master's degree in adult and higher education-talent development in 2021 from Central Oklahoma.

"Kate fits really well on our coaching staff," Harris said.  "I knew almost immediately in her interview that she would be a perfect addition to our staff.  Even though she is young in coaching experience, she brings a good depth of knowledge about rowing and a great coach's eye.  She is going to be a real asset at Tulsa and I am glad that she is coming to work with us."

Workman was a four-year letterwinner at Tulsa and participated in 24 regattas.  She helped the 2nd Varsity 4+ earn a gold medal at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championship, the Varsity 8+ and 3rd Varsity 8+ capture third-place marks at the 2021 championship and 2017 championship, respectively, and the 2nd Varsity 8+ finish fourth in 2019.

Workman earned her bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at Tulsa in May 2021 and is working towards her master's degree in chemical engineering.

"I am really thrilled that Renae decided to continue her chemical engineering education at Tulsa and that she wanted to give back by coaching," Harris said.  "She was an excellent leader and teacher as a student-athlete and I know she will continue to grow as a coach of younger athletes.  I can't wait to see her at work."
