Tulsa’s Poindexter Named The American Freshman of the Week; Wyvette Mayberry Tabbed to Honor Roll

Tulsa women's basketball player Temira Poindexter was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, while Wyvette Mayberry was tabbed to The American Honor Roll, as announced today by the league office. This was Poindexter's fifth accolade in nine weeks.
Poindexter scored her first career double-double, as well as TU's first double-double on the season, with 13 points and 10 rebounds to help Tulsa claim a 71-59 win over East Carolina last week. Poindexter shot 44-percent from the field and 83-percent from the free throw line, while adding three assists, two steals and two blocks in over 33 minutes on the court. With her two blocks, she moves into second place on the Tulsa Freshman Single-Season Records list.
Mayberry tied her career-high of 24 points against the Pirates. She shot 46-percent from the field, 42-percent from behind the arc and was 9-of-9 from the free throw line. Mayberry also had four assists, three rebounds and a steal, while playing all but 49 seconds of the contest.
