Tulsa Volleyball Drops Four-Set Match To Memphis

TULSA, Okla. —
The University of Tulsa volleyball team fell 3-1 (21-25, 18-25, 25-21, 21-25) to the Memphis Tigers Sunday afternoon at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
 
The loss dropped the Golden Hurricane's record to 9-8 overall and 2-3 in AAC play.
 
The Tulsa offense was led by outside hitter Kayley Cassaday, who finished the day with 26 kills. Setters Avery Kalsu (28) and Brayden Hipp (26) combined for 54 assists to boost the Hurricane attack.
 
Outside hitter Lauren Eitler notched her fifth double-double of the season by recording 15 kills and a career-high 20 digs.
 
Libero Marta Pecalli produced 24 digs to go with two blocks each from middle blocker Camryn Lingenbrink and outside hitter Bailey Rowe.
 
Tulsa will hit the road Wednesday, Oct. 12, to take on Wichita State (8-8, 3-2 AAC) at 7 p.m.

» Marta Pecalli had a match-high three service aces in the loss.
» Memphis recorded 15 total blocks compared to Tulsa's three.

How It Happened
 
SET 1 | The Hurricane dropped a back-and-forth first set, losing 25-21 in a game that featured six lead changes and 13 tie scores. Neither team led by more than four points in the match.
 
SET 2 | Tulsa lost the second set 25-18 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. Tulsa trailed by as many as seven points as Memphis grabbed the advantage for good at 14-13 in a set that was tied up five times before the Tigers took over in the second half of the stanza.
 
SET 3 | Tulsa got on the board with a 25-21 win in set three to make it a 2-1 match. The Hurricane trailed by as many as six points but took the lead for good at 17-16 in a set that featured seven ties and five lead changes.
 
SET 4 | Tulsa lost in set four 25-21 to drop the match. The Hurricane trailed by as many as six points as Memphis grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5. Tulsa was never able to recover in a set that was tied up five times before the Tigers took over the lead.
