Columbia, Mo.  ––
The University of Tulsa men's and women's cross-country teams are set to race in the NCAA Midwest Regional at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. on Friday morning.

The women's 6k will open the day at 11 a.m. (CT), while the men will compete shortly after in a 10k at noon.

Both teams will be seeking an automatic berth to the 2022 NCAA Championships, which will take place in Stillwater, Okla. on Nov. 19. The men enter Friday's race as the sixth-ranked team in the nation and will likely make the championships regardless of result. The women come in ranked seventh in the Midwest region and will look to pull an upset and nab one of the automatic qualifier berths.

The men and women are coming off dominant performances in this season's American Athletic Conference Championships. Isaac Akers and Chloe Hershenow won the men's and women's individual title, while Tulsa swept the team championships for the fourth year in-a-row. Freshman Luke Lambert was the top finishing newcomer and took the Freshman of the Year Award.

The men took third in last year's regional, claiming six of the top-25 individual spots in Iowa City, Iowa. Returners Cormac Dalton, Micheal Power, Shay McEvoy and Isaac Akers were each a part of that top group. Malte Propp finished in 42nd.

The women placed seventh in the region, with Katharina Pesendorfer taking top-billing for Tulsa with a 22nd-placed finish. Chloe Hershenow, Sara Scott and Keely Jones are other Hurricane women returners who competed last season.
