Tulsa Defeats Arkansas to Extend Home Winning Streak to Five

Hurricane win back-to-back matches against SEC opponents
TULSA, Okla. ― The Tulsa men's tennis team continued its strong home performances this season, extending its home winning streak with a 4-3 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks Wednesday night at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Tulsa improves to 6-3 on the season, and 5-1 at home, while Arkansas drops to 7-3.

Tulsa won four singles matches on the night, as Adham Gaber, Stefan Hampe, Callum Gale, and Kody Pearson all won to give Tulsa its second straight win against a SEC opponent. Pearson, for the second consecutive time, clinched the match for Tulsa and improved his singles record to 5-2.

Both Tulsa and Arkansas were receiving votes in the latest ITA Coaches Poll, putting a larger value on this match. The Razorbacks got off to the quick start thanks to the doubles point. After Arkansas won on No. 2, Pearson and Connor Di Marco answered back, knocking off Reco/Rousset 6-4 to tie up the doubles. After a back-and-forth battle, the Razorbacks broke a 4-4 tie with two straight set wins to take the early lead.

Like the Alabama match, Tulsa was able to respond with quality singles play of its own after facing an early deficit. Pearson, Gale, and Gaber have all won in back-to-back matches.

Tulsa will return to action next Friday, February 25th against the Denver Pioneers in Lubbock, Texas before taking on Texas Tech on Sunday, February 27th.
