Tulsa Golfers in Second Place at Texas State Invitational

KYLE, Texas –– After 36 holes at the Texas State Invitational, the Tulsa women's golf team sits one stroke behind team leader BYU. Tulsa finished the day with a 593 total at the par 72 Plum Creek Golf Course.
 
The Hurricane carded a first-round score of 295 and a second round 298, while BYU shot rounds of 289 and 295 for their 592 total score.
 
Tulsa placed four golfers among the top-20 as junior Lilly Thomas led the way with a third-place score of even par 144. Thomas turned in a one-over par 73 in the first 18 holes and a one-under par 71 in second round action. Senior Lorena Tseng is in eighth place after her four-over par score of 148, totaling rounds o 73 and 75.
 
Freshman Sophie Johnson and senior Haley Greb finished the day in 14th and 17th place, respectively. Johnson turned in rounds of 74 and 76 for a 150 score and Greb had a 151 total after carding rounds of 75 and 76.
 
Sydney Seigel's scored of 157 put her in 38th place following two rounds. Lovisa Gunnar, playing as an individual and sits in 25th place with a score of 153.
 
After BYU and Tulsa, Incarnate Word (602), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (603) and Sam Houston (609) rounded out the top-five teams. Texas A&M's Ellie Szeryk and BYU's Annick Haczkiewicz are tied for first place individually at one-under par 143.
 
The teams will tee-off Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. for the final 18 rounds.
