New Vision: Golden Hurricane Champions Fund

TULSA, Okla. –– Since 1930 the Golden Hurricane Club has been the main fundraising arm of The University of Tulsa Athletics Department. Today, TU athletics announced a new vision and name change with the unveiling of the Golden Hurricane Champions Fund.
The Golden Hurricane Champions Fund, through strong and active membership, provides The University of Tulsa with critical funding to help meet the rising costs associated with operating a top collegiate athletics program. Even with a new look, the mission stays the same –– supporting student-athletes and helping them succeed at the highest levels in the classrooms, on the fields of play and in our communities.
"This newly envisioned fund was created to help simplify the donor experience while recognizing our members overall annual support of athletics," said Vice President & Director of Athletics Rick Dickson. "Each and every member of the TU family supports a vision for a championship athletics program by providing funding essential to top performance in competition, in the classroom and in the Tulsa community."
A current member of the American Athletic Conference and the smallest FBS institution in the country, Tulsa teams have achieved significant success throughout its 127 years of sports with the help of funding by the Golden Hurricane Club.
Some of Tulsa's incredible feats have included the TU football team becoming the first school to ever appear in five straight New Year's Day Bowl Games, the Hurricane men's basketball team making 30 postseason tournament appearances and winning two NIT Championships, the men's cross country teams winning the past 12 league crowns and making 12 national meet appearances, four Women's Golf National Championships, multiple conference titles in men's soccer, men's and women's tennis, softball and volleyball, nearly 2,000 all-conference selections, 172 All-Americans and six individual national champions.
In eight years as a member of The American, Tulsa teams have captured the second-most conference championships in that time span with 25 league titles.
As the primary fundraising arm of TU Athletics, the Golden Hurricane Champions Fund strives to provide every Hurricane student-athlete with the opportunity to realize a world-class athletic and academic experience.
