Tulsa Golfers Thomas and Gunnar Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.–– The University of Tulsa golfers, Lilly Thomas and Lovisa Gunnar, earned All-American Scholar honors by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), it was announced today.


Thomas completed her junior season with a 3.61 GPA in accounting, while Gunnar completed her first year in business administration with a 3.84 GPA. Thomas earned the honor for the second consecutive year. The minimum cumulative grade point average for selection to the WGCA scholar team is 3.50.


Thomas, from Bentonville, Ark., finished the 2021-22 campaign at the NCAA Stillwater Regional after earning all-conference accolades for the second consecutive season. Thomas registered five top-20 performances in 11 tournaments including four top-5 finishes. She had a career-best second place showing at the Texas State Invitational with a 2-under par score of 214. Thomas also placed fifth at The Bruzzy, sixth at the Columbia Classic and seventh at the season-opening Samuel P. Golden Invitational.


In 33 rounds, Thomas had a 72.9 stroke average and tallied six sub-70 rounds in the 2021-22 campaign.


A freshman from Linkoping, Sweden, Gunnar claimed Tulsa's lone individual victory in 2021-22 by earning medalist honors at the Trinity Forest Invitational with an even-par score of 216. She also turned in a 14th place performance at the American Athletic Conference Championships. Gunnar also had an 18th place finish at the Texas State Invitational for three top-20 finishes in her first collegiate season.


Gunnar had Tulsa's second-best stroke average for the year behind Thomas with an average of 74.6 through 26 rounds.
