The #12 Tulsa men's soccer team battled #3 Kentucky to a 1-1 tie on Sunday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane moved to 3-0-1 on the season, while the Wildcats moved to 4-0-1 overall.

"I thought through the first 35 minutes when it was numbers-even, we possessed the ball really well," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We did a good job of playing through them and creating chances. Our ball moment was good tonight and Kentucky is a good team, so I was pleased with that aspect of it. Then we got the red card and from then we still moved the ball well. In the second half the players did an excellent job of being disciplined with their movement and in their choice of time to press. The guys played their hearts out."

Tulsa will return to action in the American Athletic Conference opener on Friday, September 16 against FIU beginning at 6:00 pm in Miami, Fla.

How it Happened:
Alex Meinhard put Tulsa on the board at the 32:31 mark as he drilled in a forward pass from Sergio Baena from 20 yards out up the middle.

Wes Bottenburg was issued a red card at the 34:28 mark, forcing TU to play a man down for the final 55:32 off the clock.

Luis Grassow evened the game in the 79th minute as he punched in a free ball in the box from six yards out. Neither team found the back of the net in the final 11 minutes for the 1-1 tie.

Kentucky had a 12-4 lead in shots, including an 8-0 advantage in the second half when TU was playing a man down
Kentucky had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks
