Pearson Named American Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas — Senior Kody Pearson of The University of Tulsa men's tennis team was named The American's Men's Tennis Player of the week, announced by the league today. It is his fifth career weekly conference award and first of the 2023 season.
From Sydney, Australia, Pearson put together a strong performance during ITA Kickoff Weekend. During Saturday's opening-round dual match against Oregon (3-1), he earned a 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 win over Joshua Charlton at Singles No. 1.
Then, in the consolation round versus UCF (1-3) on Sunday, Pearson, with partner Connor Di Marco, began the day with a 7-5 victory over the country's 28th-ranked doubles team of Bogdan Pavel and Lleyton Cronje to clinch the doubles point for the Golden Hurricane. Pearson closed out the weekend with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 1 Singles position over the Knights' Yassine Dlimi.
Tulsa returns home this Sunday, Feb. 5, to host Texas Tech (2-3) at 1 p.m. and Oral Roberts (1-4) at 6 p.m.
