BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Tulsa volleyball team's four-match road stretch ended with a three-set sweep (25-23, 25-21, 25-17) Sunday over the UAB Blazers at the Bartow Arena in Birmingham. The win improves the Golden Hurricane to 11-7 overall and 4-3 in American Athletic Conference action, while the Blazers drop to 2-17 overall and 0-7 in league play.

"Our girls did a nice job at the service line, continuing to keep pressure on [UAB]," said Head Coach Lauren Ramatowski. "We were able to push them out of their system quite a bit which helped us defensively. It wasn't our cleanest match, and we need to improve our ability to kill more balls, but I am proud of our team for being resilient and finding ways to win after a long travel weekend."

Tulsa had seven service aces on the day, while cleanly fielding 100% of UAB's serves. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Eitler led TU with three aces to finish out the win.

The Hurricane offense was led by senior setter Avery Kalsu in conjunction with graduate outside hitter Kayley Cassaday. Kalsu's 29 assists Sunday allowed Cassaday to slam down 16 kills at a rate of 5.33 kills per set.

Leading Tulsa's defense was middle blocker Camryn Lingenbrink, who continues her impressive sophomore season for the Hurricane. Lingenbrink stuffed eight balls for Tulsa, comprised of a solo block and seven block assists.

Cassaday and junior libero Marta Pecalli also fueled the Hurricane's defensive effort as each athlete kept the ball alive with nine digs.

Tulsa's four-game road stretch comes to an end as the Hurricane returns home to the Donald W. Reynolds Center to host a two-match home series against SMU (12-6, 6-1 AAC) on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13-14.
