Tulsa Volleyball Hosts Tulane for Final Homestand

TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa volleyball team (14-14, 7-9 AAC) is set to wrap up the home slate this weekend with a two-match series against the Tulane Green Wave (6-22, 2-14 AAC) Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
Friday is Senior Day and Alumni Day in the Donald W. Reynolds Center. TU will honor seven distinguished alumnae between the second and third sets of the match. The celebration of graduate student Kayley Cassaday and seniors Avery Kalsu and Regan Pendleton will begin following the conclusion of the match.
 
Both matches will stream on ESPN+. Fans unable to attend the action in person can watch it live on ESPN+. Tulsa and Tulane will meet for the 40th time in the overall series with the Green Wave leading 20-19. A pair of wins this weekend would give Tulsa its first-ever lead of the series.
 
Tulane sits in last place in The American West Division with a 2-14 mark in conference play and an overall record of 6-22. The Green Wave's two conference wins came back-to-back in a 3-0 sweep over Charlotte (10-18, 3-13 AAC) and a 3-1 decision over UAB (4-25, 2-15 AAC). Since then, Tulane has lost four straight.
 
Tulane ranks fifth in the conference in digs (1,572) and digs per set (15.56) and sixth in attacks per set (35.64). Outside hitter Avery Burks is the focal point of the Green Wave's offense. The freshman is second in the league in attacks (1,040) and attacks per set (10.30) and seventh in kills per set (3.27).
 
The defense is led by libero Lauryn Burrows, who's third in the AAC in digs per set (4.32) and total digs (436). Middle blocker duo Sabrina Skyers and Orsula Staka each average over a block per set to fortify the front-row defense.
 
Kayley Cassaday remains one of the top outside hitters in the nation, ranking second for attacks (1,426) and attacks per set (14.26, third in kills (540) and kills per set (5.19) and fourth in points (580.5) and points per set (5.58). She leads The American in all six benchmarks.
 
Senior setter Avery Kalsu is The American's leader with 1,023 total assists and is third in assists per set (9.84) and 14th in digs (302).
 
Junior libero Marta Pecalli is fifth in the AAC for digs per set (4.17) and seventh in digs (434).
 
Middle blockers Arianna Mongare and Camryn Lingenbrink continue their strong sophomore seasons for the Hurricane ... Mongare leads Tulsa with 97 blocks, ranking 11th among all AAC blockers and averaging 0.93 blocks per set while Lingenbrink is 14th in the conference in blocks per set (0.96).
 
As a team, Tulsa remains the nation's leader in attacks per set (39.29) while ranking 15th for total attacks (4,086) and digs per set (16.92), and 27th for total digs (1,760).
